IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances June
Ford
June 6, 1937 – January 9, 2023
Frances June Ford, 85, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2023, in Mill Creek, WA. Frances was born on June 6, 1937, in Grover, CO.
Though raised in a town so small that in 1996 it still had dirt roads (Grover, CO), Junebug managed to travel all 50 states - most of them several times over. June's family of farmers moved to Renton, WA to build planes during WWII, which afforded the purchase of farming property in Skagit Valley. The travel bug bit when Juney married a Navy navigator, taking her to different postings around the US. Later in life she remarried and took to the road with her husband, who had a lifelong career in telecom - June's knowledge of the states she visited led to many hilarious stories as she took every opportunity to visit local landmarks, museums and favorite food stops. A beautifully friendly person, she met unique characters and always came home with hilarious and enriching stories of theirs, and of her own. Antoine's Restaurant in New Orleans, Trader Vic's in San Francisco, and Hawaii were all bucket list places she managed to visit and spoke of for years - she went in with such joy, she was loved by everyone she met.
Travelling and exploring every possible place; reading newspapers and books and magazines and anything that could teach her something new, solving crossword puzzles over morning coffee, talking with her friends and family, collecting purses entirely too large to be practical, and doing anything she could to help others. When her children were young and a bit out of hand, she developed incredible speed and accuracy with thrown shoes - guaranteed gold medalist if the sport ever made the olympics!
June was involved in many organizations including American Kennel Club (AKC), Red Hat Society, and throughout her life, June volunteered with various organizations focused on local community works, family support, and single mothers in need.
She is survived by her brother Joe Polednick, and her children Kathryn Terwillegar, Cissy McCarty, Charles Coomer, Kevin Coomer, and their children and grandchildren, and her nephews Steve and Gary Cameron. June was preceded by her mother Sarah Polednick (Wilson) and father James Polednick, her sister Betty Cameron and brother John Polednick.
Following June's wishes, the family will be scheduling an informal gathering, which will be held on the 18th of February. Details will be posted on her children's social media as we near that date.
If you care to honor Juney's memory, just be like her for a day and surprise someone by being overly kind for no reason other than you're both alive and in the same place.
June believed in cremation, and had asked her children to spread her ashes in places she loved and with her parents in the Bow Cemetery.
