Fred Gilbert "Gil" Kachold, Ret. Navy WWII Gil was born December 29, 1923 in Portland, OR to Fred and Mabel Kachold; he passed away October 4, 2009 in Sedro Woolley. He was raised primarily in the Mukilteo, WA area; he graduated from Everett High School in 1941. He married Mildred Kukull in Yakima, WA in October of 1941. During WWII he served in the Pacific Theatre. After his discharge at the end of WWII, he soon reinlisted in the Navy and served in various locations throughout the United States and flew military support missions in Asia. In his final years of service he was a Navy recruiter in Skagit County. He was very proud of his WWII service and loved his Country. He attended the dedication of the WWII Memorial in Washington DC. Gil was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish on the Skagit River and hunt in Eastern Washington, he also enjoyed landscaping and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mildred; his children: John (Melanie) Kachold of Virginia, Maryann (Steve) Davidson of Arizona, and Shirley Kachold of Nevada; his grandchildren: Kristina (Jason) Hales of Alabama, Matthew Perry of Arizona, Brian (Charlotte) Kachold of Virginia, and Richard Kachold of Virginia; his great-granddaughter: Drew Hales; great-grandsons: Aidan Hales, and Trevor James Kachold; his sister: Valla Hudson of Everett; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Margaret Roobis. A Military Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2009, 10:00 am at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett, WA.
