Gary Leon Frazier born September 8, 1938, in Lake City Iowa. Son of Leon and Doris Frazier. Gary passed away May 3rd, 2025, Mount Vernon, WA.
Gary graduated Mount Vernon High School in 1956 and entered the U.S. Marine Corp right after graduation. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA until 1958, and his service included time in the Philippine Islands. He moved back to Mt Vernon in 1961 to raise family and also begin a lifetime career in law enforcement with the Skagit County Sheriff's Office in 1961. Gary worked his way up the ranks at the Sheriff's office, including graduating from the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. On February 28, 1986, Gary was sworn-in as Skagit County Sheriff by then-Sheriff John Boynton and subsequently was elected Skagit County Sheriff in 1987. Gary was proud of his professional accomplishments, which included the formation of a Citizens Awareness Corp emphasizing crime prevention, increasing reserve deputy roles, expanding the Search and Rescue organization, and was instrumental in bringing "Emergency 911" service to Skagit County. After serving 2 elected terms as Sheriff, Gary retired from public service in 1995.
Throughout his life, Gary always enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, golfing and cheering on his beloved Huskies, Seahawks, and Mariners.

Gary is survived by his wife Frederica, his sister Lois Thompson of Wenatchee WA, his son Joe and wife Wendy of Snohomish WA, his daughter
Kelli of Mt Vernon, grandsons Joey Luvera, Tyler Luvera (wife Megan), Matthew Frazier, Jason Frazier, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
A "Celebration of Life" event will be held at the Mt. Vernon Elks Club on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, Gary's family would prefer that you make a donation in his name to the Skagit County Sheriff's Office Benevolent Association
