Obituary

Georgia Jane Schopf Georgia was born December 15, 1935 in Bellingham, WA to George and Elizabeth Edquist; she passed away, after a courageous battle with cancer, November 13, 2008 in Mount Vernon, surrounded by her family,. Georgia was raised in Lyman, WA, she graduated from Sedro Woolley High School in 1953. She was a travel agent for 10 years. She and her husband Floyd owned and operated the Big Rock Service and Grocery until retiring in 1987. She was an avid member of AA and a founding member of Pink Ladies, as well as several other support groups. She and Floyd enjoyed traveling to Maui every year, since Floyd's passing in 1989, her family has made the trip with her. Georgia is survived by her daughter Debi (Bob) Gustafson and their children: Shannon, Becki, Jerry, Michelle, Kim and Kelli and great-grandchildren: Katelin, Chloe, Braiden, Trenton, Cooper and Payton; her son: Greg (Kathy) Johnston and their children: Sarah, Jennifer, and Garrett and a great-granddaughter: Audrey; Step sons: Gary (Natalie) Schopf and their children: Ashley and Britney; Randy (Judee) Schopf and their children: Carolyn, Candice and Kenny; Stan (Donna) Schopf and their children: Kyle and Shawn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd; sister: Jan Brigham; niece: Jacquie Torgerson. Viewing will be held Sunday, November 16, 2008, 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm and Monday, November 17, 2008, 9:00 am until 2:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2008, 3:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Pastor Dennis Spinnie officiating, the inurnment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park. A special thank you to Skagit Valley Oncology, Skagit Valley Hospital, Dr. Gjerset and his nurses and staff. Memorials may be made in Georgia's name to the Pink Ladies, the Alano Club or Skagit Valley Hospital Oncology Department.
