IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geraldine
Ackermann
May 20, 1937 – September 5, 2023
Geraldine (Gerry) Ackermann passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 5, 2023. She was born on May 20, 1937, to Henry and Marie Kadyk in Everett, WA. She graduated from Everett High School and worked at a dairy for several years. She met Benjamin Ackermann through mutual friends and married him at the tender age of 18 on May 18, 1956.
Together, they raised 5 kids. She was a stay-at-home mom until her kids were in school, and she worked seasonally picking tulips and daffodils. Later she worked as a postal carrier for many years. She could make the best rolls, pies, and cinnamon rolls.
With Ben, she was instrumental in the beginnings of Mount Vernon Christian High School and Faith Community Fellowship Church. She introduced Coffee Break Bible Study for Women to the church and was a leader in that for many years.
After retirement, she and Ben spent many years traveling and working with disaster relief organizations all over the country.
Gerry was a servant-she was always looking out for how she could help. Even in her last days, she was very concerned that the residents in her assisted living memory care unit were being taken care of well.
She was a woman of great faith and taught her children to love Jesus by word and example. Her family was her first priority. She is survived by her children: Candie Vanderpol (Larry), Greg Ackermann (Tish), Tim Ackermann, Evan Ackermann (Susan), Kurt Ackermann (Karen); 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Marion Ekkelkamp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Henry; daughter-in-law, Sienne; and her siblings, Herman Kadyk and Annette Maas.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Faith Community Fellowship at 1427 Monte Vista Drive, Mount Vernon, WA, 98273.
If you are unable to attend the memorial service, it will be live streamed.
