Gertrude Lind Poppe, age 87, passed away peacefully May 26, 2015 in Mount Vernon WA. She was born November 19, 1927 in Bellingham WA to Conrad and Edith Lind. At age 3, her family moved to Mount Vernon where she attended schools and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. She married Melvin Poppe in 1947 and they raised 2 daughters. Gertrude was active in Meadow Grange, enjoyed singing in the church choir and barbershop quartet, and traveled with Mel in their RV. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Poppe; her parents; brothers Earl Lind and Ward Lind; and grandson Kevin Frydenlund. She is survived by her daughters Joan (Steve) Boone of Olympia and Cindy (Rick) Frydenlund of Mount Vernon; brother Curtis Lind and sister Gloria Lumbert; grandchildren Alison Homan, Angie Corcoran, Kelly and Kyle Frydenlund; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A family graveside service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on June 6 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 S. 18th St. in Mount Vernon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gertrude's name to Trinity Lutheran Church or to a charity of choice.
