GLORIA JOANNE (Busha) FISHER passed away October 20th, 2015 at Where The Heart Is in Burlington. Born March 1, 1929 in Burlington Washington to Joy and Georgia (Watkinson) Busha. She was raised in Allen where her dad had Gas with Joy, a grocery/gas store that also had meat lockers. (Currently where WD Foods is located). She attended grade school in Allen and Burlington where she met her husband. They graduated together from Burlington-Edison High School in 1947. JoAnne married Robert "Bob" Fisher on July 9, 1950 in Allen, WA at the Busha family home. They lived in Seattle the first couple years of their marriage then returned to Skagit County to raise their family. Together they started Fisher Construction and later Fisher and Sons. JoAnne was a ski instructor at Stevens Pass for many years. She drove strawberry bus for Dahlstedt farms in the 60's where she was given the nick name Poncho. She was a bookkeeper for the Sales Barn, Thrifty Foods, and the family construction businesses. She was a fabulous cook and was well known for her cinnamon rolls and delicious orange rolls. At Christmas she baked dozens of different cookies. She shared a plate with each neighbor as well as family friends. JoAnne was a devoted wife; always near to help her loving husband. They spent years camping, hiking, fishing, skiing and enjoying the outdoors. Many days spent together cruising on their boat, The BOJO or traveling in their motorhome. She loved to entertain anywhere with her family and many friends. She could magically whip a meal together from nothing. She was very involved with her children and attended or volunteered to help with anything they participated in. She enjoyed creating special times with her grandchildren as well. Music was a big part of the Busha family. Her mother, father, older sister and younger brother were all musicians. JoAnne played the tambourine. Anytime there was a gathering, music was a big part of the event which also included dancing and singing. Bob and JoAnne loved to dance and often Saturday nights they would go to a local Grange Hall for dancing and socializing with their friends. JoAnne is survived by her husband of 65 years. Her 4 children: Jerome (Karen), Chad (Colleen), Todd (Debbie) and Veonne (Vernon). She leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Daniel, Michelle, Bobbi, Christopher, Duke, Danielle and Craig.
