Gloria Kay Meigs-Nicoll, 71, of LaConner, WA passed away peacefully Thursday, February 9, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Gloria was born Feb 13, 1940 to Calvin Clinger and Myrtle Lux in Mount Vernon, WA. She married David Nelson in 1958 and had two daughters, Debbie and Denise. After several years of marriage they divorced and Gloria remarried to Jack D. Meigs with whom she enjoyed life with until his passing in 2001. After many years of living single, Gloria found a new friend to share life with in William Nicoll. Some of the places she may be remembered working at include the Elks in Mt. Vernon, Mt Vernon Café, and as the head cook at Mt Vernon High School, from which she retired. After retirement Gloria and Jack spent much of their time at the family property in Westport digging clams, beachcombing, and bonfires on the beach with friends and relatives. She and Jack also experienced traveling by motorhome for awhile but eventually decided taking the car to their own RV lot was the way to go. Her various interests included arts and crafts, especially for Christmas, holiday cooking and spring planting. She was also well known for her banana cream and apple pies, of which you couldn't get enough of. Her later years included a fondness for shopping of which many friends and family reaped the rewards. Solar path lighting in Washington? In addition to her husband Jack Meigs, Gloria is preceded in death by her parents Calvin and Myrtle, and brother Kenneth Skols. Gloria is survived by her husband, William Nicholl, brothers Nick Clinger and friend Jerri, Vic and (Okcha) Clinger, of Rosamond, CA, Sister Beverly and (Lyle) Mosher, daughters Debbie and (Mike) Headrick, Denise and (Bill) Mayville, a granddaughter, Kendra London, nieces and nephews, Bill Clinger and family, Kevin Clinger and family, Chris Clinger, and Diane Curnow and family. Gloria's family would like to thank the Skagit Valley Kidney Center and Mira Vista for their care and help and a very special thanks is extended to Peter O'Neill for all of his generous help and support during Gloria's illness.
