Grace Hansen of Mount Vernon went to meet Jesus face to face on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
She was born on January 26th, 1936 in Kerkhoven, MN to Emil and Stella Nelson.
In 1955, she married David Hansen, the man of her dreams, trading her aspirations of singing in the opera for a life filled with the excitement that only comes from having eight children.
Grace had many interests, and everything she did was done very well. She loved music and sang beautifully. She played the organ and piano and volunteered her talents in the church for many years.
She loved art and painting. Her artwork extended into ceramics and porcelain. She taught her skills to those who were interested. She was a teacher in two private schools and home-schooled some of her children and grandchildren. Grace loved gardening, cooking and canning, sewing clothes for her children, and in the last few years of her life, she made blankets for Love Inc. Her abilities in business and accounting supported her husband's business for 35 years. She and David enjoyed 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband David and seven children, Mike, Tim (Liz), Paul, Daniel (Teresa), Melody (Cecil), Vikki (Cory), and Joel. Her oldest child, Pamela, preceded her in death. She is also survived by her brother Floyd (Lucille) Nelson, and sister Muriel (Noble) Hanson, and many nieces and nephews.
