Obituary
Grace, 91, a longtime resident of Mount Vernon, celebrated Thanksgiving at the table of her beloved Jesus in heaven on 11.23.17.
She was born in the Netherlands in 1926; immigrating to CA in 1952 with her husband, Walter and his family. In 1968, Grace and Walt moved to Mount Vernon with their 7 children. They moved to Lynden in 1986.
Grace was preceded in death by Walter.
She was a healthy, strong woman of character until she had emergency surgery on a broken femur earlier this year. She spent her final months at Alderwood Care Center in Bellingham where the staff took loving care of her. She was a pleasant, sweet favorite of all.
She is survived by her children, Pete; Tina Cooper (Brian), Cicilia Elali (Bashar); Patty Clark (Phil), Clarence (Linda), William and John as well as 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
"For me to live is Christ; to die, is gain".
A celebration of Grace's life will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, 2:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home Chapel followed by a reception in the Hawthorne Reception Room.
