Obituary

Gretta Wind Knudson , daughter of Fred and Hilda Wind, was born on October 9, 1943, in Friesland, The Netherlands.

At the age of 9 she immigrated with her family to the United States, settling in southern California.

Gretta attended Bellflower Christian School, graduating in 1961. She then studied at Calvin College in Grand Rapids ,Michigan.

After graduating in 1965, she taught elementary students at Ontario, California, Christian

Schools for four years.

After living a few years in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she moved to Seattle and worked in a home

for disabled adults, eventually moving to Mount Vernon .

There she became a member of Bethany Covenant Church, and continued working with disabled

adults for Vocational Rehab, living out her faith.

In Mount Vernon she met the love of her life, Wayne Knudson. They married in 1990.

Gretta continued working in the field of social services.

Gretta was a truly gentle, kind soul who found joy in helping others and was very compassionate

to people who were disabled or otherwise unfortunate.

She loved children and enjoyed being with Marlin and Linda Hendricks' children who remember her

for her story telling and playing in improvised living room tents.

She loved living in Wayne's beautiful home, her flower gardens, and their dogs.

In the last few years Gretta began her drift into the fog of forgetfulness, and eventually descended into

the ever darkening night of dementia.

She left us twice- first to dementia, and then finally stepping into eternal rest.

She is now living in the loving arms of Jesus.
