Obituary

Harvey Raymond Hicks, age 85, of Burlington, WA passed away at his home on Monday December 2, 2019.  He was born and raised in Bozeman, MT and was the only child of Ellsworth and Melissa Hicks.  He graduated from Montana State University with a degree in Industrial Arts and served in the US Army and reserves.  After college he moved to Washington where he met his wife, Sharon Jones.  Harvey and Sharon were married November 10, 1962 in Burien, WA.  He worked at both Boeing and Weyerhaeuser in the Seattle area working in the early days of programing computers for industrial automation.  He lived in Burien and then Tacoma where his 3 children were born.  He and his family moved in 1975 to Danville, CA where they lived for 14 years.  While in California, Harvey continued his employment with Fiberboard, Hexcel and Xerox.  Harvey and Sharon returned to Washington in 1989 when he returned to work at Boeing in Auburn, WA.  Harvey retired from Boeing in 1996 and moved from Federal Way to Vaugh, WA to enjoy retired life.  In 2014 Harvey and Sharon moved to Burlington, WA.

Harvey had his own dance band in college, "The Blue Flames", where he was the drummer and enjoyed swing band music.  He and Sharon were active square dancers in CA for 8 years.  He and his family enjoyed skiing and camping in CA and WA.  Harvey loved boating as well with his cabin cruiser "Sea Spirit" and was a member of SEABACs.  He had a lifelong love of photography and was the resident photographer in his retirement community.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon; son, Mark Hicks, from Birch Bay, WA; daughter, Sharyl (Hicks) DeBusschere from Lafayette, CA; and 6 grandkids; Shawn, Megan, Josie, Odessa, Justin and Alexis.  He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Bryan.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Creekside Retirement in Burlington, WA in January 2020.
