Obituary

Helen L. Barnes 94, of Sedro-Woolley, WA moved to heaven on June 18, 2015 She was born September 7, 1920 in Three Forks, Montana to George and Martha Wilcox. She was the youngest of 1 sister and 6 brothers. She married George L. Brookings in 1935 with whom she had 3 children. She married Paul Parker in 1965 -1979. She married William H. Barnes in 1994 until his death in 2001. In 2009 she moved in with her son Jerry D. Brookings and wife Linda K until her death. She was a homemaker most of her life. She always had a garden and canned many varieties of fruits and vegetables providing for her family. She worked in the bulb fields and did some waitressing. She also baked pies for restaurants in the area. She is survived by her daughter Mae A. Greathouse, her children Lance (Melesaun), Corene Stewart, Brice (Shirlene), and her and her great grandchildren, Shaya and Maleah Greathouse, Aleah and Jared Stewart, Jathan, Joscelyn, Jelina, and Jerdan Greathouse. Her son Jerry (Linda) their children Breyana (Kenny) Oliver, Brenton W. Brookings, Bristin (Eric) Scharf and great grandchildren Stella and Asher Oliver. Helen was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Her son William B. Brookings in 1963, his father George L. Brookings 2001, her son in law Stanley V. Greathouse 1996, and her husband of 11 years William H. Barnes in 2005. Her beloved cat Morris and little dog Sweetpea. She enjoyed eating out at the Iron Skillet and Joy's bakery that she patronized for many years up until a month before her death. She also enjoyed playing Bingo at Creekside Retirement Center, faithfully, for many years, 2 or 3 times a week. She was mentally sharp as a tack up to her death. She remembered many dates, birthdays, and phone numbers from long ago. During her school years she won an award for attendance and spelling bees of which she was especially proud. She loved and was very much loved and cared for by her family. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday June 24th at 2:00 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home . Helen's grandson, Pastor Brice Greathouse will be officiating.
