Lane
November 7, 1946 – November 22, 2023
Herbert James Lane, 77 passed away on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, at 02:30 am, at home with his wife Suzann and his dog Sebastian, and his cat Ziggy by his side.
Herbert was born on November 7th, 1946, in Tacoma, Washington to the parents of Bud and Nancy Lane. He graduated from Anacortes high school in 1966. He had many jobs. He worked at Bayliner for a couple years, until his dad called him, saying that Foss was hiring. He went, put an application in and got hired. He worked there for 32 years, retiring in 2004.
He married LouAnn in 1976. They had Kevin August 1st, 1977. She died in April 1988 by a drunk driver. He married Suzann Freeberg on March 4th, 1990. They did a lot of traveling, went to Niagara Falls, NY to visit relatives, and got to see the Falls, went to Minnesota to visit more relatives, they are all farmers, and he enjoyed seeing all their machinery. They called him "City Slicker!". We went to the Grand Canyon, rode the train through the canyon, that was fun.
Since he was a "chief engineer" the boys friends called him "chief". It fit him perfectly. He loved listening to books, playing games on computer, watching hallmark Christmas movies, and loved to travel.
He is survived by his wife Suzann, son Tony (Beth) Lane and 5 kids, stepson K.C. (Angela) Freeberg and son Isaac. His 2 sisters Mary Lou (Ron) Bowlin, Kit (Doug) McPhee. 6 brother in-laws; Jim (Connie) Meyer, John Meyer, Joseph (Karen) Meyer, Jerry Meyer, Jeff (Lori) Meyer and Jason (Rose) Meyer, and many nieces and nephews.
He had a lot of friends- Gordy Brewster (Goose), Steven Latham (Fitter), Dave Overton, Karl Rhoads, LeLand Reese, Lee Finny, just to name a few.
Preceded in death by his first wife LouAnn (1988), his parents and son Kevin (1999).
No flowers please. Charity donations to Humane Society.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
