Hulda LeGro, 90, of Mount Vernon, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2015. Hulda was born in Beaverton, OR August 10, 1925, daughter of Casper and Margarith "Von Allman" Kehrli. At an early age her family moved to a farm on Puget Island near Cathlamet, WA, where she graduated from high school and then worked for Wahkiakum County. It was there that she met the new County Engineer, Gwynne D. "Denny" LeGro and they were soon married on June 19, 1948. They moved to Mount Vernon in 1949 and Hulda became an integral part of the family engineering and land surveying business. She was a warm loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. Hulda was active in church and community (cub scout den mother, YMCA Women's Auxiliary, Wesleyan Circle) and was supportive of family functions revolving around school and sports. Hulda was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon. She is survived by her son Denny, daughter in law Barbara, granddaughters Brittany and Kristen all of Mount Vernon, her sister Emma Gregory of Roseburg, OR, her sister-in-law Nita "LeGro" Marsula of Burlington, WA, and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years G.D. "Denny" LeGro (2009), sister's Margrith Pedersen, Rose Bauer, Clara Ruhlin and brothers Albert, Casper and Herbert Kehrli. Her ever-loving selflessness to family helped us all through many trying times. Her memory has been instilled ever after by her undying love for friends and family. At her request, there will be no funeral services. Family members will hold a celebration of life at a future date. In memory of Hulda LeGro, donations may be made to the Mount Vernon First United Methodist Church or the Skagit Valley Family YMCA.
