Loving mother and wife Ingeborg Beatrice Hixon met her Maker on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at HomePlace Care Center in Burlington. Nicknamed "Inke" at HomePlace, she was born in Singen, Germany, on January 4, 1929. In 1957 with three children in tow, she followed her first husband (since deceased) to Washington State ) and resided in Tacoma, where she had her fourth daughter. She eventually met Robert Earl Hixon, with whom she married and spent the rest of her memorable life. Inge loved sewing, knitting, embroidery, crocheting, and whipping up German cuisine. Many of her homemade gems dot her children's homes. Feisty and opinionated, Inge made sure they all knew what was important. "All a person needs is love" is one of her steadfast statements. Even when their own home was on rations, she would always find something to help feed the hungry neighborhood children. Her sisters Erika and Irma, as well as brothers Paul and Karl, all from Germany, precede Inge in death. She is survived by her husband Robert Earl Hixon of Burlington; her sister Else Kollmitz of Germany; four daughters Esmeralda Maria Anderson (Alan) of Lynnwood; Linda Anna Davis of Tacoma, Washington; Sharon Sue Roper of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; and Diana Geri Pearson (Timothy) of Bow, Washington. Inge also has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews from Germany, as well as several grandchildren who reside in Washington and refer to her as "Oma." In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation. A private service is scheduled for next week
