Obituary

Jack "Dep" Antonino DePeralta, 63, of Burlington, WA, passed away December 1, 2021 at Skagit Valley Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on March 27, 1958 in San Jose, California. Jack was highly active in JROTC at Citrus Jr High School in Orange Cove, California and continued with JROTC at Reedley High School in Reedley, California. His experience prompted him to enlist in the United States Navy shortly after graduation. It was during that time he married the former AnaMarie Dumapay. They recently celebrated their 40th anniversary this past

He honorably served the U.S Navy for 20 years. A good portion of his military career was spent on Whidbey Island where he was assigned to VAQ-165 (Boomers) and his last assignment at VAQ-129 (Vikings). Jack was known to mentor many sailors in hopes to turn their lives around for the better.

His most momentous event in the Navy was being stationed in the Philippines at Subic Bay Naval Base during the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, in which he was involved in Operation Fiery Vigil.

After retiring from the Navy, Jack found his calling as a handyman. He was aptly named "Mr. Fix it" by his grandson which stuck as his business name! He learned the trade from his dad Severo, and had a mentor in the Navy that sparked his interest in woodworking. Jack designed and lovingly built all the furniture in his home. He also left his mark in many homes and businesses in Island and Skagit counties. He was meticulous and always took pride in his work.

Jack was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan and had the chance to see them play one last time with his son Antonino. Jack was also known to help others in need. He will be remembered by his infectious smile and being a "jokester."

He will be greatly missed by all whom he touched, especially by his grandchildren who knew him affectionately as "Papa."

Jack was preceded in death by his daughter Jaime DePeralta, his dad Severo Tangonan, and his brother Bill Manzano.

He is survived by his wife, Ana DePeralta and their children. Melissa(Michael) Tanzy, Christina(Andrew) Lacey, Antonino DePeralta, and grandchildren Kordel, Kamylle, Charlotte, and James, his mother Shirley Tangonan, his brothers, James(Donna) McCoy and Severo(Audrey) Tangonan Jr., and sister Diana(Richard) Rodriguez, and his favorite furry passenger, Enzo. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Stanwood, WA on December 8, 2021, at 10:00am. Interment with full military honors will be held at later date at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Reedley, California.

In lieu of flowers we ask for donations be placed under Jacks name to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans. It was always a dream of his to have a place for homeless veterans.
