James "Jim" D. Ross went home to be with his Lord and Savior March 3rd, 2009. He suffered a massive heart attack. Jim was born March 21, 1952 in Boise, ID. Jim called the Skagit Valley his home since 1973. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all. Jim founded Ross Excavating in 1989 and made this his life's work, along with his son Travis Ross. God blessed Jim with an incredible love for his family and giving him his life's dream of providing for them in many ways. He constantly surrounded himself with friends and family. Jim was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing all around the Northwest. Sport fishing in Mexico, Hawaii and many other places was his passion. He worked and played hard with his family and friends, especially Travis. Jim was involved with many organizations, including WOSSA, Builders Association, Operating Engineers Local 302, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and area representative for Glendon Biofilter Corporation. He was preceded in death by his first wife Sheryl Knapp, his parents Ben and Mae dykes, and his Nephew Micheal Ross. He is survived by his wife Lynn Ross, his daughter Angela Bloomquist, son in law Thomas Bloomquist and their children Alexandra and Christopher. His son Travis Ross, daughter in law Erin Ross and their two children Tyson and Tessa. Brothers Doug Ross, Dan Ross and Don Dykes. Sisters Linda Westbrook, Laurie Conquest and Cathy Lawless. Also various nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Viewing will be held Monday March 9, 2009 9:00am until 5:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday March 10, 2009, 1:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home 1825 E College Way, Mount Vernon. A Potluck Reception will follow at 3:00pm at the family home in Bow, WA
