James David Lindstrom, or "Jim," was born on February 27, 1951 at Seattle General Hospital in Seattle, WA, and passed away on September 9, 2021, while residing at Mira Vista Care Center, in Mount Vernon, WA. He was born the oldest of two children of Betty Jane (Hebert) and H. James Lindstrom Jr., who lived in Shoreline and later moved to Richmond Beach, when he was 7. He attended Cromwell Park Elementary school, Richmond Beach Elementary school, and Nicholas Murray Butler Junior High. Moving up with his class to Shoreline High School, from 1966 until graduation on June 10, 1969. As a student, he served as the Spartan's football manager, lettering during his senior year. While growing up, we were part of our extended Lindstrom family, enjoying many special days together at the beach at Grandma's house with aunts, uncles and cousins. Bob and Randy Caverly were like brothers to Jim. Jim enjoyed building plastic model airplanes and cars, playing little league baseball, cub scouts, collecting baseball cards and following the hydroplane races at Lake Washington. With our family he spent many wonderful times at the cabin at Lake Cavanaugh, where we fished, water skied and made many friends. As a family, we also enjoyed a week's stay at Birch Bay each summer staying in a cottage next to the roller rink. Here, he enjoyed bike riding, golfing, crabbing, clamming, go-karting and buying fireworks for the 4th of July festivities at Grandma's house. After graduation, Jim attended Shoreline Community College studying graphic arts, graduating with an Associate of Arts & Science, 2-year degree in June 1972. Jim headed to WSU, our parent's alma mater, around 1974. At WSU, he studied communications, and received a BA in Communications, June 5, 1982. As a student, Jim found his passion, working as a DJ for KZUU, 90.7FM, a student-run, campus radio station. He kept a live broadcast going during the eruption of Mount St. Helens. Jim became involved in live theater at WSU, joining the musical production of Diamond Studs at Bryan Hall and the Yukon Follies at Daggey Hall. It was a "rip-roarin wild west musical," receiving awards and acclaim. Harpo (Jim) loved playing harmonica, and singing, which would forever be a love of his life. He was an avid Seattle sports fan, and loved following the Mariners, Seafair hydroplane races, Seahawks, Nascar and hockey. Jim lived in Seattle, working as a medical courier and in medical record processing for 10+ years. He continued to develop as a musician and was an expressive harmonicist, with many friends he made in the Greenlake area, especially at the Red Hen, with the Buckaroo Blues Band, Latigo Lace band members, and open mic venues. He remained close to his high school, WSU, and Lake Cavanaugh friends, and band members, who supported each other like family. His nieces loved receiving his cards. They were the funniest ones each year. He had a priceless sense of humor, and everyone will miss his Facebook comments. Jim was predeceased by his grandparents, parents, Aunt Shirley Thompson, Uncle Gordon Lindstrom and cousin, Robert Caverly. He is survived by his sister, Terri (Lindstrom Nelson) Olsen and husband Rev. Larry Olsen of Burlington, WA; his niece Melissa (Nelson) Hoye and husband Dan Hoye of Windham, NH and Tami (Nelson) Sutter and husband Quientin Sutter of Mount Vernon, WA; his grand nieces and nephews, Madison, Lily, Danny, Silas and Sloan; his Aunt Dorothy Lindstrom, and numerous cousins and their families.A Celebration of Life event will be held for family and friends on November 7th, and will be posted on Facebook.
