Obituary

It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family of James "Jungle Jim" Rolfson announces the loss of a devoted husband, wonderful father and unshakeable friend after a short battle with cancer. Jim's spirit peacefully rose to the heavens on March 19th 2006 just after 2:00 PM with family by his side. The cheer of the crowd at God's ballpark was surely deafening as he walked up to home plate!! Jim was born on March 7th 1931 in Anaheim, CA to Ivan and Alice Rolfson and shortly there after moved to Camano Island, WA. Jim was raised there by his grandparents Edward and Seina Rolfson. Jim's childhood was filled with hunting, fishing and of course, playing baseball. Jim graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1949, attended and graduated from Skagit Valley College. Jim also played baseball for the Mount Vernon Milk Maids and was a Korean War Veteran. Jim had a passion for sports and was a fanatic upland bird hunter. On September 18, 1954 Jim married JaDene Huseby in Mount Vernon WA and the couple has been together ever since. A savvy business man, Jim worked in the furniture business for 50 years and opened Rolfson's Home Furnishings in West Mount Vernon in July of 1979, where all three of his children continue making his dream come true. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, JaDene Rolfson, Children Pamela and her husband Paul Armbrust, Brian and his wife Carrie, Eric and his wife Grace, grandchildren Sarah, Ryan, Kyle, Lindsay, Jacqueline, Christian, Alexander and great granddaughter CaDene. Jim is also survived by his sisters Betty Bonjorni of Mount Vernon, Jo-An Hickey of Yakima, Shirley Mullins of Mount Vernon, and his brother Bud Trownsell of Everett. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and brother Edward Rolfson. Jim also leaves behind scores of close and dear friends. A service and celebration of his life will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 28th starting at 3 PM. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made to the Skagit Valley Chapter of Pheasants Forever #402 and designated for property acquisition. Donations can be mailed to P.O. Box 398 Mount Vernon WA 98273.
