IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Mae
Clark
February 4, 1936 – August 31, 2021
Janet Mae Clark was born to James Robert & Nona Johnson in 1936 in Skagit Valley. She grew up in Birdsview, WA with her brother Bill & foster sister Penny.
Janet graduated from Concrete High School in 1954. She attended Bellingham Business College before marrying her high school sweetheart & the love of her life Druery Edward Clark on June 17, 1955. She worked in Pullman helping Dru complete his architectural engineering degree from WSU. They began their family in 1959 & settled in Federal Way WA.
In 1977 Dru came home from work & asked Janet, "Hey honey, how would you like to move to Kuwait?" Her response was, "Sure Dru, where's Kuwait?" In July of that year, they moved to Kuwait where she worked as a teacher's aide in the Universal American School as well as the America School of Kuwait. She & Dru travelled internationally for the next 10 years.
Dru retired from his government service job & contracted out other jobs that took them to Alaska, Oregon & California. Upon Dru retiring for good, they purchased a home in Arizona and became snowbirds. Janet has been a widow since 2010 & has continued the snowbird lifestyle until she moved back to Skagit Valley in July 2021.
Janet loved to sing. She sang in the choir in high school as well as in every church she was a member of from the 1950s until her passing. Her family was her #1 priority from her parents all the way down to her 12 great grandchildren. Her joy came from her faith in Christ and the blessings she received from her family and the friends she made along the way. One of her favorite things to do was to send a card or a letter of encouragement. In return, on her birthday as well as Christmas, she would receive an incredible number of greetings and well wishes from around the world. She loved playing cards and it was never too late in the day for a good game. She was also a sports fanatic- rooting on her selected teams. From attending all her children's sporting activities to supporting the WSU Cougs, Seattle Mariners, and the Arizona Cardinals with her enthusiastic cheers.
She supported Campus Crusade for Christ & any church she was a member of.
Janet was preceded in death by her mother Nona Frances Johnson, father James Robert Johnson, husband Druery Edward Clark, son-in-law Ted Warriner & grandson Robert Clark. She is survived by her brother Bill & sister-in-law Mary Johnson of Sedro Woolley WA, son Robert & wife Deanna Clark of Arizona, son Daniel & wife Suzi Clark of Arizona, daughter Diana & husband John Binder of Arizona, daughter Cheryl & husband Dave Durham of WA.
