Janet Marie Tripp, Age 76, passed away December 24th at her home in Burlington. She was a long-time resident of Skagit County. She was born December 17th, 1936 in Colfax, Wisconsin to Norman and Mildred Dean. In 1954, Janet graduated from Cornell High School in Wisconsin. After graduation she moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Then on to Milwaukee to attend school and work in a private hospital. In 1956, she moved to Washington, and worked for West Coast Telephone as an operator. After that, she became personnel manager at Libby's cannery in Mount Vernon. In 1957, she married Willard Tripp, and they had 3 daughters. She was an avid outdoors person. She liked to hunt in Eastern Washington, and spent many hours fishing on the Skagit River with her family, Janet also loved to bowl, and was a member of several teams over the years. Until she found the sport of golf! She was a natural, winning several club championships, 3 hole in ones, and other various competitions. She enjoyed playing on the Skagit Ladies Golf Team. She and the other team members would take her motor home all over Washington, competing against other country club teams at one time she had an "8" handicap. After her wrists started aching, and it became too painful for her to golf, she started playing cards with her lady friends at the club. She seldom missed a Tuesday to spend the afternoon with her friends until it was too difficult for her to leave the house. She did however fill her time watching the golf channel, both the men and women. One of her last outings was to spend a night or two in Rockport, and stay in one of the beautiful cabins along the Skagit River. She enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the summer, the warm fire to sit by, and putting a puzzle together with her granddaughter, Ali. She was preceded in death by her parents, her 3 brothers Philip, Larry, Patrick, sister Linda, and her dog Daisy. She is survived by a younger sister, Judy Johnson and her husband Don Johnson of Sequim. She also leaves her daughter, Lori Johnson-Murren and her husband Doug Murren, granddaughter Ali, and grandson Douglas; daughter Vicky Tripp, granddaughters Lindsey and Nicole, and grandson Dawson.
