Janie Penrose passed away peacefully on February 25, 2023 in Sedro Woolley, WA.  Janie was born on January 30, 1937, in Seattle, WA.  As a young child her family moved to Guemes Island and Janie attended Anacortes High School.  She was very active with the Salvation Army Church in Anacortes, WA.  Janie had a passion for cooking.  She turned that passion into a career, cooking at Seattle Hospital for many years.  She was also a cook for the Ovenell Home Group.  Janie also worked at Costco demonstrating food products until she retired.

Janie loved to volunteer at the Bonners Ferry Senior Center in Idaho.  She enjoyed making ceramics with her friends.  Janie had a big heart and loved helping and feeding people in need.  She enjoyed going on adventures with friends and family and she loved to volunteer at the library.

Janie is survived by her daughters Marcia Thompson, Peggy Sadosky, and her son Mathew Thompson.  She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Janie was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Shaw and her great grandson Carlos Reyna.

A memorial service will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA on Monday, March 13, 2023 at 1:00pm.
