The Lord's faithful shepherd, Rev. Jerrold Dalke, of St. Luke Lutheran Church, was called to his heavenly home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 10, 2021, after battling cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was 69 years, 2 months, and 5 days young.
Jerry was born to Adolph and Marie Dalke in Glendive, Montana on March 5, 1952. He was baptized on March 30, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive, MT. He was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Yakima, Washington on May 23 rd , 1966.
On June 9, 1973 he married the love of his life Paula Martin at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Yakima, WA. The Lord blessed their marriage with six children, Jonathan (Mandy), Jerissa (Jesse), Jennel (Adam), Jael (Bill), Jessica (Josh), and Jacob (Kaelynn). Proud grandfather of 19 grandchildren with #20 on the way.
Jerry graduated high school from Mobridge, SD in 1970. He went on to study at Northwestern in Watertown, WI. Then completed his Bachelor's Degree and Master's in History at Mankato State University. After which, he received a Master's of Divinity at Bethany Lutheran Seminary. ShepherdJer was called to serve three ELS parishes, Sutherlin, OR; Blythe, CA; and Mt. Vernon, WA. Sunday, September 22 nd , 2019, was a special day as we celebrated the 50 th anniversary of the congregation at Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Pastor Dalke's 40 th anniversary of Ordination into the Office of the Holy Ministry and the 35 th anniversary of Jerry's installation as pastor of Saint Luke.
Jerry was a "Jerry of all trades" he owned a carpentry and building repair company. He ran this business 35+ years. He was a hard worker and eager to teach others this trade. He fulfilled a dream where he took and passed Real Estate classes. On October 16, 2020, he became a licensed realtor with Keller Williams Western Reality, his cancer diagnosis caused him to freeze his license.
Rev. Dalke is survived by his wife, Paula Dalke; mother, Marie Dalke; his 6 children, 5 sisters and husbands, Deanna, Jacque (Will), Joyce (Fred), Joan (Clark), Jewell (Alan), nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. His 19 grandchildren; Jonathen, Junior, Jamie, Madison, Jadyn, Jordyn, Aiden, Evva, Emma, Ella, Korban, Liam, Jean, Joy, Jensen, Jerrod, Matthew, Lucas, and Baby N (#20). Preceded in death by his father, Adolph Dalke; brother, John Dalke; sister, Laura Mae Dalke; and granddaughter, Breanna Marie Bock.
Jerry was a faithful servant, blessed husband and father, doting grandfather, beloved uncle and loyal friend. He will be missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory in our midst.
A Victory Service celebrating his life will be on Monday, May 17 th at 1:00pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, WA. All who knew and loved Jerrold Dalke are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please send donations to St. Luke Lutheran Church - 1524 E. Blackburn RD. Mt. Vernon, WA 98274.
