Obituary
Joan Cherie Hogue passed away March 2, 2017 in Mount Vernon, WA. She was born April 5, 1934 in Tacoma WA to Orville and Blanche Eley. Gladys Johnstone, a single woman of Mount Vernon, WA adopted Joan in May 1934, maintaining a close relationship with Joan's biological family in Pierce County. Joan married Mickey Hogue, who preceded her in death in 2011. Together they raised three daughters, Pamela Hogue, Christina Dilley (Husband John and daughters Chelsea and Caitlin) and Debra Hogue (sons Jeremy, Tucker and Michael). Joan's last days were at Skagit Valley Hospital where she was lovingly cared for by an exceptional team of doctors and nurses, including the hospital's compassionate palliative care team. Of the last words spoken by Joan to her family, she said" I'm having a good day!". She will be remembered as a little spitfire of a woman who refused to give up-she still had things to do. Viewing will be held Monday March 6, 2016, 9:00am until the funeral service at 1:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon followed by a Graveside Service at Hawthorne Memorial Park and a reception in the Hawthorne Reception Room.
