Obituary

JOHN E. HENRIOT Born May 7, 1924 Passed away Nov. 8, 2014 John (Jack) Henriot was born May 7, 1924 in Chehalis, Washington to C.E. Henriot and Elizabeth Henriot. Jack graduated from Bellarmine High School in Tacoma, Washington in 1942. He entered the University of Washington in the fall of 1942 where he joined Sigma Nu Fraternity. Jack enlisted is the U.S. Army Reserve in December 1942 and was called to active duty in March of 1943. He spent 8 months at the University of Missouri with the Army ASTP Program. Jack was later transferred to the 66th Infantry Division in March of 1944. Jack was shipped to Europe in November of 1944. On Christmas Eve of 1944 he survived the sinking of the troopship Loepoldville. Jack was severely injured in combat in April of 1945. He spent one year in army hospitals and was discharge in May 1946. Jack was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He returned to the University of Washington in 1946 and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Jack took a position with Boeing and worked on the first model 707. He took a year off to travel in Europe and attend the University College in Dublin, Ireland. Upon his return to the states he went back to work at Boeing. He left Boeing and help various engineering and management positions in the US and Australia. He retired in June of 1988. Jack married Gerry Dunlap in January 1953. The have 3 children, Tessa Rawitzer (Jon), Suzi Henriot and John Henriot (Kelly). He also has three grandchildren, Matt Rawitzer, Jordon Henriot and and Kelsey Beasley. Preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Betty McCormick and brother-in-law Fred Mc- Cormick. Jack is survived by his wife Gerry, children, grandchildren, brothers James, Petter SJ and sister Jeanne Marie along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a member of Skagit Golf & Country Club, a lifelong member of the Disabled American Veterans, Member Emeritus to the Skagit Valley College Foundation, former Board Member of Chinook Enterprises and 11 years as a Port Commissioner of Skagit County. Jack enjoyed skiing, golfing and traveling throughout Europe and the South Pacific with Gerry. Private services will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Northwest.
