Nevi
January 14, 1948 – January 17, 2024
Joseph "Joe" E. Nevi passed away January 17, 2024, at Birchview Memory Care in Sedro Woolley, WA
Joe was born January 14, 1948, in Jersey City, NJ to Daniel A. Nevi and Camille Nevi. He grew up in the Greenwood area of Seattle, graduating from Bishop Blanchet High School in 1966.
On July 26, 1969; Joe married Elizabeth "Betsy" Kelly and they began their 54 years of adventure, starting with four years in the U. S. Air Force. Joe went on to receive a bachelor's from California Polytechnical University, at Pomona, CA, and a master's from Central Michigan University, Mount Pleasant, MI. During this time two sons were born, Brian and Brandon. Joe began his employment in the oil and gas industry resulting in frequent moves.
Joe loved to fish and found a place in each area he lived; but he found the time to coach the boys and be active in their scouting activities, serving as both Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, camping, reading and music – especially rock and roll.
Joe is survived by his wife, Betsy; sons, Brian of Arlington, WA and Brandon of Mount Vernon, WA; granddaughter Angelyna Nevi, of Edmond, OK; and granddaughter of the heart Chloe Swanson, Bartlett, TN; brother Dennis (Deborah) Nevi, Green Brook, NJ; brothers-in-law, Dan (Becky) Kelly, Oak Harbor, WA; and Jim (Rita Calabro) Kelly, Seattle, WA. Joe is also survived by his cousins; Tom (Sue) Southerton, Alderwood Manor, WA; Gary (David Isla) Southerton, Seattle, WA; and Patsy Davis, Marshall, VA; eight nephews, two great nephews and three great nieces.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents; Cousin, Bernard Southerton; grandparents, and many aunts and uncles.
We would like to thank those who helped Joe through this journey; the remarkable staff at Birchview Memory Care for their constant care and compassion; the Bradford House/Skagit Adult Day Program; the Mount Vernon Senior Center and Hospice of the Northwest.
