Obituary

Judith Lee Hatcher, 84, of Mount Vernon, WA passed peacefully at Birchview Memory Care in Sedro-Woolley, on January 9th 2024.

Judi was born in Mount Vernon to Robert and Ruth Lee. She was the oldest of five siblings and several cousins growing up in the Headquarters neighborhood of Conway and attending Conway School, Lincoln, and Mount Vernon High School.  Judi enjoyed reminiscing of her time picking strawberries and working at the theaters and jewelry store in old downtown Mount Vernon.

Judi met Lonnie Hatcher, the love of her life, on a blind date and was enamored with his Chevy Impala.  After being married they were excited to start their new life together. Judi and Lonnie moved to Virginia to start a family of their own. Through the years as a military family, they made homes in Maryland and California while raising their 3 children. Judi was a wonderful, dedicated mother who was active in her children's lives and was always there to provide an enjoyable and enriched childhood. She was their scout leader, room mother and PTA president organizing special events for their schools. She supported their interests in sports, band, and always planned the best birthday parties.

Upon Lonnie's retirement they settled in Mount Vernon and Judi returned to work as a medical receptionist where she met many special friends. Through the years Judi and Lonnie enjoyed their annual road trips to California and Arizona, flights to Hawaii and cross country to visit family in Maryland and Virginia.

Though she loved her flowers, gardening, travel, country music, shopping, Bible study, and spending time with her family and friends, Judi's favorite role was that of being a Grandparent and Great Grandparent. She treasured her time with their grandkids and great grandkids. She loved being their Grammy. She never failed to pick the perfect gift for birthdays and Christmas. She knew all of their hobbies, interests and even favorite colors. Judi enjoyed going to their sporting events, competitions, and dance recitals.

Judi was preceded in death by her parents, three of her siblings Dianne Chichester (David), Joyce Lee, Carl Dobbs, her son-in-law Mo Hargrove, niece Kenda Jo Brown, and nephew Christoper Brown.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lonnie, her children Traci Brigham (Randy), Kim Hargrove and Scott Hatcher (Kellie) also her grandchildren Jamie Freysz, Kenzi Brigham, Corey Brigham, Wesley Hargrove, Kristi Hargove, Tori Hatcher and Madison Hatcher and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Fred Lee (Carolyn), Rob Lee, brother-in-law Bob Hatcher (Pat), and many nieces and nephews.
