IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Judy Elizabeth
Monrad
November 21, 1946 – January 15, 2025
Judy Elizabeth Monrad, 79, a longtime Concrete resident passed away peacefully with her sons at her side at United General Hospital on Wednesday, January 15 following a sudden illness.
She was born November 21, 1946 to George and Violet (Sackman) Clark. The eldest of five children, the majority of her youth was spent in Sedro Woolley. The family also lived in Anacortes for a short time. As a junior in High School, the family moved to Montana where she graduated with the Fairfield High School Class of 1965. Judy returned to Washington where she attended college for a short time.
Judy met Bruce Monrad when he ran her off the road (that's a story for another time) and they wed on April 15, 1967 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Together they raised two sons Greg and Steven. Bruce and Judy made their home in Concrete until their deaths, except for a short time living in Punkin' Center.
Judy worked as a bookkeeper for many years, most of her career was with LB&R Logging in Concrete where she worked until she retired in 2005. She was active in the community serving in multiple ways including Cub Scout Leader, Sunday School Superintendent/teacher, serving in the Grassmere Fire Department Auxiliary "The Fire-ettes", and on the board for Aero Skagit Ambulance. She was always willing to help or chaperone school activities serving as an "extra-mom" to many. Most recently she has been an active member of the Concrete Assembly of God Church where she and Bruce attended for many years.
In her free time she enjoyed sewing and crafts, and spending time with family and friends. Judy loved spending time on and near the water where the family enjoyed time boating, water skiing and fishing. She was even known to out fish Bruce on occasion. They loved dancing and they shared many good times making memories with good friends who joined them on the floor.
Judy is survived by her sons, Greg (Wendy) Monrad of Anchorage, AK and Steven Monrad of Anacortes, WA. Sister Kathryn (Larry) Hutton of Buckley, WA. Brothers Leslie (Roxann) Clark of Lodi, CA; George Jr (Marcie) Clark of Dallas, OR; ND Joe Van Bolcum of Fairfield, MT. Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Bruce Monrad, her father George Clark, Sr; and mother and step-father Violet and Robert Van Bolcum.
