The family of Karen "Bunny" Kutzer is sadden to announce her passing on January 7th, 2026, after a brief illness at the age of 82.

Bunny was born in Burlington on May 19th, 1943, to Roy and Doris Skogmo.   She grew up in Burlington, attending grade schools and graduating from Burlington Edison high school in 1961.

She met Richard McCobb and married in 1961. They had two daughters, Karen and Kristin. Her greatest pride was her children, which she nurtured with unconditional love.

On January 27th, 1973, she married her grade school sweetheart Bob Kutzer. Together they made a family that was filled with memories of camping and travelling in their motorhome, working in their gardens and even raising chickens. Bunny was very gifted at sewing, crocheting, knitting, hardanger embroidery and most recently diamond art. She was always busy making something beautiful.

Outside of her family life she worked for several local businesses as a bookkeeper, retiring with the cost cutter grocery stores.

Bunny was a devoted grandma to her grandchildren attending all schools and sporting events. She never missed an opportunity to tell you how proud she was of them.

Her infectious smile and warm personality will be missed by her many friends that she made in life and the last 8 years at her home, Salem Village Apartments. She filled her days with lunches with the lunch bunch, card games, chair yoga, crafts and puzzling every day at 10:00.

Bunny's legacy is one of profound love, resilience and the beauty found in everyday moments.  She taught us to live fully and love fiercely, a lesson we will carry forward.

Bunny is survived by her daughters Karen (Wade) Swatzina, Kristin (Phil) LaRue, grandchildren, Amanda (Ryan) Coulter, Ryan (Shayna) Nuessen, Jessica ( Danny Gallagher) Sweeten, step grandchildren, Morgan Swatzina, Garrett (Kimry) Swatzina, great-grandchildren, Danny Gallagher, Olive Coulter , Suzie Coulter , Walker Swatzina, sister Linda Handlos, brothers, Jon Skogmo and Steve Skogmo, numerous cousins, nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, Roy and Doris Skogmo, parent in laws, Madge Kutzer and Bob Kutzer Sr.

A graveside service will be held at Green Hills Cemetery at 12:00 PM on Saturday February 21st, 2026, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.
