Karen Lynn Walker (Clodfelter) passed away peacefully at her home, on the morning of Christmas Eve, after a one year battle with cancer. Karen was born to Marlys (Stemhagen) & Wallace Clodfelter on August 14th, 1950 in Seattle, Washington. At 6 months old her family moved to The Valley, where she spent the rest of her life. She attended Mount Vernon High School where she was a beloved member of the graduating class of 1968. She soon after married Sam Sherman, her high school sweetheart, and had her first born, Rick Eugene Sherman. She then attended Mount Vernon Beauty School and continued her career as a hair stylist. Years later, she met Jack Walker, who she was married to for 25 years. Karen and Jack had two children, Kaylin Marie and Jake Michael Walker. Karen was an amazing mother and her children adored her. She also had an intense love for animals, they seemed to gravitate towards her. Her pets have always been treated like royalty. She cherished her home and had it intricately decorated for every occasion. Nothing pleased her more than to have her home filled with laughter, family, and friends. She had a passion for great food and enjoyed creating fabulous meals for the ones she loved. She was known for her amazing flower garden and beautifully landscaped yard. Her second favorite palce to be was at Dave and Helen Manier's farm on the Samish river where she spent time with family every summer. The number of friends that Karen had was overwhelming and she treasured them dearly. Karen is survived by her children Rick, Kaylin, Jake and their father Jack Walker. Mother and step-father, Marlys & Kirk Conn. Sisters and brother-in-laws: Julie & Randy Butler and Marla & Frank Jones. Aunts and uncles: Gordy Clodfelter, Alan & Janet Stemhagen, Joanne & Claude Browning, Gary & Patty Stemhagen, and Charmaine & Darrell McCormick. Nieces and nephews: Jeff & Tonya Moshier, Michael & Angie Leach, Jason Moshier, Alicia Watson and Brandon Watson. Cousins: Keith (K.G.) & Yvonne Clodfelter, Lana (Lanny) Clodfelter, Lori Culver, David Stemhagen, Gary & Kelly Stemhagen, Jimmy & Becky Stemhagen, Linda & Ralf Sonnerup, Corey Kjarsted, Dean Stemhagen, Cassandra Stemhagen, Derek Stemhagen, Kyle Stemhagen, Dawn Atkins and Jaclyn Allen. The royal pets: Norman, Tigger and granddog Joie. Her amazing family goes on and on. Preceding Karen in death was her father Wallace (Wally) Clodfelter. Grandparents: Matt & Hanna Clodfelter and Oscar & Helen Stemhagen. Uncles: Zip Clodfelter and Dwane Clodfelter. First husband Sam Sherman. Pets: Fraline, Scotty, Fred and Polly. The family would like to say special thanks to all of Karen's many friends. We are amazed at the amount of love, prayers, support, and generosity we have been surrounded by this last year, it was truly inspirational. We couldn't have done it without you. She loved and appreciated you all so much. Also, special thanks to Dr. Raish at the Cancer Care Center and Skagit Hospice nurses, especially Julia and Lee. Services will be held Saturday, December 29th 2007, at noon, at the First Baptist Church 103 N. 5th Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
