Obituary

Kathryn Mary Tewalt, a cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Mount Vernon, WA, at the age of 99. Born on January 15, 1926, in Los Angeles, CA, Kathryn was the beloved daughter of Charles Alonzo Wright and Martha Shultz Wright. She grew up on a farm in Clear Lake, WA, alongside her brothers, Ellis and Mark Buchanan, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.

Kathryn attended Sedro Woolley High School, graduating in 1944. Shortly after, she married Charles (Reynold) Tewalt in 1945. Together, they settled on a dairy farm near Clear Lake, WA, where Kathryn lived for over 70 years, nurturing her family and contributing to the community.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents and brothers. She is survived by her loving children: daughter Carolyn Dreyer, sons Charles Tewalt and his wife Denice, and Fred Tewalt and his wife Joli. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom will remember her wisdom, sharp wit, and her love of ceramics and gardening.

Kathryn was a dedicated member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cyrene Chapter, Sedro Woolley, WA, for 45 years. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile, Hatasu Temple No. 1, Mountlake Terrace, for 31 years, serving as a past Matron and Past Grand Representative to Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Kathryn's life was a testament to dedication, family, and resilience. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
