IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth A.
"Ken" Fiedler
April 20, 2023
Kenneth A "Ken" Fiedler, 70, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023 after an extended illness. He was born on May 28, 1952 in Arlington, WA, son of Chester and Anita Fiedler. He was educated in the Mount Vernon schools and graduated from Mount Vernon High School with honors in 1970. He was involved in athletics as a team manager and became known as "Coach Ken". Ken enrolled in Skagit Valley College to continue his education. However, his education plan was interrupted when the Selective Service called him to serve his Country in the US Army. Instead of being drafted, Ken enlisted in the Army and was stationed in the US and Germany. After his Honorable discharge from the Army, Ken finished his education and graduated from Western Washington University. He is a lifetime member of the Western Washington University Alumni Association. Ken then began a long career in aerospace with the Boeing Company. Ken was proud of his contributions to the Boeing 747 and 767 aircraft programs and retired in 2017. Ken has told countless stories of his career at Boeing and the life long friends he made while working there. Ken was a mentor to many during his years at the Boeing Company.
Ken was a lifetime member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon. He belonged to the Mens Garden Club for several years and many considered him a "expert" on Rhododendrons. Ken enjoyed pursuing his collection of Cook Books for just the right recipe he and others might enjoy. He was also a Green Egg Barbeque fanatic. He enjoyed good barbeque and passed his barbeque knowledge along to his nephews including supplying them with Green Eggs. Ken was always interested in wood working and studied the craft extensively.
Ken was preceded in death by his mother, Anita and father Chester. He leaves behind a brother: Bob and his wife Cheri of Hermiston, OR; children: Dean and his wife Angela of Missoula, MT., Neil and his wife Kristin of Naples, ID. and their children Jackson, Lincoln and Harrison. His Aunt Janet Hagen and her family along with several cousins.
A family graveside service conducted by Pastor Rouse of First Evangelical Lutheran Church will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park where Ken will be laid to rest next to his parents.
Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon or Josephine Caring Community, Stanwood.
Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park.
