Kenneth Wayne Kite, 89, of Burlington, WA passed away peacefully on December 12, 2017. Ken was born on January 12, 1928 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Ken served in the Navy and the Army after he graduated from high school. Ken entered the Navy on September 16, 1949 and was honorably discharged from the Army on December 19, 1962. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Police in 1957 from Wichita State University and received 2 Masters degrees in Public Health and Solid Waste Management. However, he went on to work in city government in Oklahoma. After moving to Washington State Ken held many jobs with the government. He was the Skagit County Planner, worked for the State of Washington in Olympia, the Federal Government in Seattle and also worked in Yakima on the Yakima Indian Reservation.
Ken was an author and wrote and published his own book. After retiring Ken loved working on his 40 acre property in Conway.
Ken is survived by his son Steve (Debbie) Kite, daughter Jana (Jeff) Fernandes, sister Wanda Sloan, nephews Randy and Mark Sloan, nephew Jim Hardy, nephews Kyle and Kerry Kite, and niece Carolyn Henning. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lizzie Kite of Stillwater, OK, sister Mildred Hardy, brother in law James Hardy of Eugene, OR, brother Herbert Glen Kite of Wichita, KS, and nephew Kendall Kite of Wichita, KS.
Ken's requested to be cremated and that no services were held.
Arrangements are under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA.
