IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kristie Sue
Dyk
July 22, 1958 – October 30, 2021
Kristie Sue Dyk, age 63, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday morning, October 30, 2021. She was born on July 22, 1958, in Mount Vernon, WA. She was the youngest child of Ralph J and Richie A King. Kristie attended elementary and high school in Mount Vernon. Learning how to play the clarinet in 5 th grade gave her the opportunity to play with her high school band in the 1976 Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, CA. Kristie attended Wenatchee Valley College where she earned her Associate Degree of Nursing and where she met the love of her life, Ken Dyk. Kristie and Ken were married in Mount Vernon April 6, 1979. They chose to make Mount Vernon their home and Kristie worked as a Registered Nurse at Josephine Sunset Home in Stanwood, and then later took a position at Skagit Valley Hospital where she worked until she retired. At the hospital, she was a charge nurse on the Oncology/Urology floor, helped start the hospital's Day Surgery/Outpatient center, and then transferred into the Pre-Op where she enjoyed working with the patients on the paperwork side. Kristie was an amazing nurse and it showed in her compassion and dedication to her patients, she truly loved being an RN.
More than being a nurse, was the love and enjoyment of being a grandmother. Her son and daughter-in-law gave her two beautiful granddaughters that were truly the center of her life. Kristie loved spending the days with the girls, making crafts and treat bags to send home with them. She loved taking them camping, spending nights in the RV doing crafts and games. Under Gramma's rules – the girls could stay up as long as they wanted to!
Kristie's hobbies included garage sales and bargain shopping, always finding a coupon or a sale to avoid paying full price! She loved having a booth in an antique mall where she could sell her finds. For Kristie - it was 'The Hunt for the Bargain'
Kristie was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph & Richie King and her brother, James King.
Kristie is survived by her loving husband, Ken Dyk, a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Jacoba Dyk, her precious granddaughters, Addison and Charlotte Dyk, sister Kathie (Pete) LeShefka and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Skagit Humane Society. Skagithumane.org
