Larry was born February 9, 1932, in Blanchard, Michigan; he passed away October 26, 2019

At his home in Burlington, surrounded by family.

Larry graduated from Blanchard High School in 1950 and then joined the U.S. Navy in 1951, serving four years at Whidbey NAS. During that time he married Doris Bopp on October 25, 1952. Larry and Doris raised their family in Burlington, WA.

After his service in the Navy, Larry went to work for Skagit Steel/Bendix Corporation, Sedro Woolley, WA., where he was involved in design and manufacturing of logging and off shore drilling equipment. Larry was a member of the Skagit Golf and Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing and being with friends. Larry also was a Burlington Kiwanian for many years.

Larry had a talented passion for carving various birds and fish and was often commissioned for his works. Larry also enjoyed fishing on the Skagit River and Lakes, hunting pleasant and waterfowl.

As a dad Larry was often called upon by his children for his handyman skills. You name it he could fix anything.

Larry wrote this as a tribute to his son and the lifestyle they both pursued.

The hunters heart is still

His spirit said good bye

No more to hear the whistling wings

Nor see a morning sky.

His life on earth has ended

But memories of him remain

In those who knew and loved him

And also shared his name.

His life was spent searching

For family, friends and fame

His search was finally over

His family still remains

The hunters heart has stilled

The hunt is finally past

Hopefully with God, the hunters home at last.
