Lawrence L. "Jack" Bowman, a long-time resident of Skagit Valley, passed away at the family home on September 19, 2010 at the age of 87. He was born on July 5, 1923 in Vici, Oklahoma to Arthur and Willa Bowman. Jack moved to Washington in 1955. Throughout his life he worked for Puget Power among other valley companies. For many years he owned his own truck repair and sales shop. Even after his retirement Jack continued to work for various local farmers maintaining their equipment and hauling operations. In his free time Jack enjoyed the outdoors, landscaping and building many yard ornaments. Jack could always be found tinkering in his shop. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Diane, two biological children, James Bowman (Cherry) and Margret O'Brien (Michael) and three stepchildren, Mike Knapp (Jolyn), Mark Knapp (Carrie), Wendy Nicholson (David). Jack was also blessed with numerous grand children and great grand children. Jack was well known throughout the area and had many long time friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and all five of his siblings. The family extends an extra thank you to Skagit Valley Life Care of Sedro Woolley and endless hours of love and dedication to his step-daughter Wendy Nicholson. Jack will be missed. A celebration of his life will be held at the family home in Burlington on October 3rd 2010 from 2 to 4pm. Refreshments will be served.
