Leonard L. Bainter, age 89, a resident of Mount Vernon, WA., died January 26, 2021 at home.

He was born January 17, 1932 in Bellingham, WA, the son of Sherman and Ellen Bainter. He married

his High School sweetheart, Edna McBee, on March 16, 1949 in Burlington and were married until her

passing in 2008.

Leonard was a very special man. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, and friend. He spent his life working hard as a Logger and heavy equipment Operator. He believed in getting involved with neighbors and community to help each other and held offices in the Moose, Community Clubs, School Board, Church and Family. He loved working in Southeast Alaska, Sedro Woolley, University of Washington, Fir Island, and Skagit River Steel & Recycling. He took care of

people all his life. He was very passionate about flying and boating and when he left Alaska, he took up flying and sailing remote controlled crafts. He was an active member of N/W RC Ship Modelers,

Skagit RC Ship Modelers, Anacortes RC Boat Club, Skagit Fun Flyers, and assisted many other organizations such as Genealogical Society, Dr. David Lawson Group, and the timber industry.

Surviving are his two daughter sand sons-in-laws, Lois and Robert Young of Mount Vernon; Margie and Gordon Bennett of Milton; Grandchildren, Jason and Lisa Young of Alger; Jacob Young and Galit Shilo-Young of Bellingham; Great-Grandchildren, Aleena Young, Isabelle Young, Oren Shilo, Elon Shilo-Young, and Aviv Shilo-Young; Sister in Laws Elizabeth Murray, Delores Taft, Barbara and Ed Demirigan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and loved Companion Bonnie Samora.

He is preceded in death by his wife Edna Bainter, his parents Sherman Bainter, Ellen Marriott Bainter Moses Brown, brother Waldo Wayne Bainter, brother Donald Bainter, and beloved uncle Willard Marriott and Esther Marriott McMinnefy Anderson Robertson.

Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 12:00 noon. Burial arrangements under direction of Hulbush Funeral Home , Burlington.
