Leslie Orvis Delaney of La Conner, WA passed away on the morning of September 27, 2024, With family by his side.
Les was born in Beloit, Wisconsin to Orvis and Katherine Delaney on July 1, 1949. He graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1968. After graduation he joined the Navy where he came to be stationed in Washington during the Vietnam War. He fell in love with the beautiful state and stayed after being discharged from the Navy in 1972. Les worked for Cello Bag Co. in Seattle for 27 years. After working for Cello Bag Co., Les worked for Delta Airlines and for King County Metro as a transit driver, retiring after 20 years. Les enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and dressing up as Santa for many years while living in Seattle.
Les was quite a character and had a great sense of humor. He loved to tell "Dad" jokes. His passions were cooking, photography, and growing tomatoes, which he loved to share with family and neighbors. He also loved spending time with family and friends on vacation in Cancun, Mexico and Maui, Hawaii.
Les Is proceeded in death by his parents, Orvis and Katherine, his first wife Sharon, a brother Dale Delaney, and half-sister Donna Grenawalt. He Is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Sandra Delaney, his stepdaughter Feliza Rouw (Paul), granddaughters Taryn and Larisa. His stepson Sean Enegren (Lindsay), grandsons Logan and Sage, Damien Bailey and granddaughter Janessa Bailey. His sister Edna Shepherd and numerous nieces and nephews from Beloit Wisconsin.
Les was a loving, kind and gentle soul that loved his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.
A big thank you to Hospice of the Northwest and VA Veterans of Washington State, you have made a difference in our lives with your helpfulness and kindness. Also, a special thanks to our friend, Julie Jones.
A burial service will be held at Hawthorn Cemetery on January 2, 2025, with a reception to follow at the La Conner Inn, in La Conner.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Northwest or the Cancer Care of Washington, thank you so much
