Obituary

Lloyd George Baker Dec. 12, 1916 – Nov. 29, 2008. A Life Well Lived. Lloyd left this life peacefully on the evening of November 29, 2008 at the age of 91. Born the youngest of three sons to Arthur and Ellen Baker, Lloyd grew up in West Seattle and graduated from West Seattle High School, Class of 1936. He joined the Navy during WWII serving as a machinist aboard a floating dry-dock in the South Pacific. After the war, Lloyd returned to Seattle where he married Ruth Elanor Pearson of Stanwood, Washington and began his 32 year career as a machinist for Puget Sound Energy. He worked a majority of his years with Puget at the White River Power Plant making his home in Puyallup. Lloyd retired from PSE in 1978 and he and Ruth moved to the house they built at Lloyd's Heaven on Earth, Tyee Beach, Camano Island in 1982. He loved "the Beach" and it's constantly changing natural beauty. In the spring of 2001, due to health issues, Lloyd and Ruth moved to Farrington Court, an assisted living facility, in Kent, Washington. Lloyd was preceded in death by his father, mother and brothers Walter (Sam) B. Baker and Herbert A. Baker. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Ruth, his daughter Carole McGuire (Paul) of Burke, Virginia, son Paul (Cheryl) of Renton, Washington and grandchildren Derek Baker, Hillary Baker, Peter McGuire, Kevin McGuire and Patrick McGuire. Our family would like to say a special thanks to Gloria and Alex who took such good physical, emotional and spiritual care of Lloyd during his final 16 months of life which he spent under their care at Best Care Adult Family Home. The family is planning a private memorial service.
