Obituary

Lois P. (Clara) Hewitt, 87, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away Tuesday March 3, 2010 at Mira Vista Care Center. Lois was born September 27, 1922 to her parents Charles and Clara Price near Darrington, Washington and graduated from Darrington High School. She married her soul mate, Wayland on November 20, 1941 in Couer d' Alene, Idaho. When Wayland joined the Army, she followed him to Texas and Georgia before making their home in Mount Vernon after the war ended. Wayland started his career with Sears and they moved to Everett in 1956. They also lived in Lewiston ID and Chehalis WA. In 1967, they were transferred to Mount Vernon and Wayland managed the downtown Sears store until his death in 1978. Mom moved to Snohomish for several years and eventually returned to Mount Vernon. She was active in Children's Orthopedic Guild and travelled to many countries such as Egypt and Yugoslavia. Lois is survived by her sons, Wayland D. (Dan) and his wife Denise, Kenneth James and his wife Carolyn, Michael Patrick and his wife Marissa, a son-in-law R. Kenneth North, a nephew Jim Price and his wife Janice, as well as 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, her parents, her brother Jim and her sister Francis, her beloved daughter Marilyn, and a grandson Adam. Lois was a loving wife, mother and friend to many and she demonstrated great perseverance in her faith. She touched many lives and will surely be missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Hospice, Children's Orthopedic Guild or Immaculate Conception Regional School. Viewing will be held Sunday, March 7, 2010, 12:00 pm until the Rosary, 4:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 8, 2010, 12:15 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, burial to follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park, reception to follow at St. Joseph's Center.
