Louis "Lou" Bell passed away June 16, 2016 with loved ones at his side. He lost his year and a half long battle with cancer that day. Lou was born in Pueblo , CO. on February 16, 1938 and his family moved to Hays, KS. in 1940. After graduating from Hays High School in 1956 he joined the U.S. Navy. He was stationed on the USS Ticonderoga aircraft carrier. After serving four years in the U.S. Navy he was a commercial fisherman for five years. He then started working in the construction field. He was a member of local 302 for 48 years.
Lou enjoyed lawn mower racing, bowling, trap shooting, golfing, and working in his shop. He also enjoyed coffee with friends in the morning. Lou was a long time member of the Elks Club and the Eagles Club.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents Eldon and Helene Bell and sister Patricia Danielson. He is survived by his wife Karen of 48 years and children; daughter Tami (Brad), and son Scott (Kris). He is also survived by three granddaughters Megan (Joe), Natalie and Rachel and one great granddaughter Abygail.
A special thanks to the Edison Volunteer Fire Department and Hospice of the Northwest. A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Club in Mount Vernon on July 16, 2016 from 1pm to 3pm.
