Louis Albert
Wright Jr.
July 29, 1935 – October 10, 2021
Al Wright was born in Los Angeles, CA to Lou and Helen Wright. He grew up in Fresno and excelled in baseball, basketball, football, and track- and graduated from Fresno High and Fresno Jr. College.

In 1953, Al enlisted with the U.S Marine Reserves and then served in the Navy where he met the love of his life, Mary Ruth Jongsma, while stationed at the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station in Washington State. Married in 1956, they spent 65 years together and raised seven children with the first child born while Al was aboard the USS Lexington CVA-16.
After his military service, Al worked ten years at Sandia Labs in Livermore, CA and finished his career as a Senior Lab Tech at Shell Oil in Anacortes, WA. Retired for almost 25 years, Al and Mary traveled twice around the US and Canada.
Al is survived by his wife, Mary, his brother Gary, his children: (in order) son Steve (Vicki), daughter Sheri (John) DeVlieger, sons Greg (Sheila), Kevin (Herta), Rod, Curtis, daughter Carla (Dennis) Van Dyken, sixteen grand-children and two great grand-children.
Al peacefully passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his home in Mount Vernon, WA. He will be interred with full military honors at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, WA.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Love, Inc., P.O. Box 2057, Mt. Vernon, WA 98273 (a non-profit helping with basic needs).
