Obituary

Louisa Grace Lee, 85, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, at home in Bayview, (Mount Vernon) WA.  Louisa was born on February 2, 1939, in Bellingham, WA.  She graduated from Burlington Edison High School 1957.After graduation she married the love of her life Robert E. Lee Jr. on June 28, 1957.

Louisa, also known as Weezie, spent her life as a homemaker, she enjoyed watching her sons Jim and Mike participate in the sports they were involved in as well as sewing, quilting, cooking (she made the best applesauce) and camping at Samish Island at Ploeg/Raymond beach and spending time with family.

In her early years, she worked at her parent's restaurant, the Dutch Pantry, in the 50's and 60's; she worked at the Burlington Auction/Sales Barn in the snack bar and at the King Size Photo Booth in Mount Vernon.

Louisa survived by husband, Robert (Bob) Lee of Bayview; son Jim and daughter in law Molly of Camano Island; daughter in law Lori Lee of Burlington, sister Rosemary Ploeg of Burlington; She is also survived by her grandchildren Marcus & Amy Wickstrom of Arizona, and Blake & Monica Wickstrom of Camano Island; great grandchildren: Andrew Day and Beau & Bretley Wickstrom. In addition to nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends.

Louisa was preceded in death by sons, David Edward Lee (July20, 1964) Michael Richard Lee (January 17, 2023); brother Douglas Jacob Ploeg (March 5, 2022) and parents Mary C Ploeg (June 27, 2003) and Jake Ploeg (May 11, 1969).

She was a member of Skagit County Historical Society and Territorial Daughters of Skagit County Chapter 2; she was part of a committee that put together cookbooks to raise money for the museum. She was a generous person and contributed to Ducks Unlimited, animal welfare organizations, and children's welfare organizations.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Bow Cemetery at 1:00pm.
