Obituary

LOUISE ELEANOR TEELE LOOFF-BARKER November 1, 1917 - August 10, 2013 Louise went into the arms of her Lord and Savior after suffering illnesses for some years. She was born to Elsie Ella and Merle A. Teele in Saratoga Springs, New York. Her family moved to Santa Monica, CA for Louise's health when she was seven years old. Louise graduated from Santa Monica High School. It was in Santa Monica where she met Jim Looff. They married on June 8, 1939. As a young couple with a family they attended First Bible Baptist Church where Louise sang solo's and duet's. She had a very lovely soprano voice, so her children thought and she did! She loved entertaining which included their annual New Year's Open Houses for friends and neighbors. They were always " HI OH" times for her!! Louise worked 30 years for General Telephone Co. She retired in 1971 when she and Jim moved to Oak Harbor, WA where Jim was born and raised. She liked Oak Harbor except for the "dreary days" which she put in her calendar every day, bless her heart. All she wanted were sunny days! She worked for Valborg's Gift Shop in Mt. Vernon for many years and loved the work and customers. She was very much a people person! Louise was preceeded in death by her husband of 55 years Jim Looff in 1994, and her second husband of 9 years, Gene Barker. Her parents, two infant siblings, and a seven year old brother, Leon. Louise is survived by her daughter Robyn Looff, son Jim Looff ( Cindy ), Gene's daughter, Lisa Radeleff ( Steve). Grandchildren: Caryn Yost ( Russell ), Eric Nelson, Jeffrey Falconer, Renata Cantrell, Christina Leslie ( Michael ), Keri Loving, Jon Huerta. Eight Great-grandchildren and Two Great-great grandchildren. Two nephews, Robert Bos ( Linda ), Todd Bos ( Susan ). After Jims death, Louise volunteered at Skagit Valley Hospital and received her pin for 5000 hours in 2003. She worked at the front desk then on to the Gift Shop where she always felt "AT HOME IN A GIFT SHOP!" It was during this time that she met her future husband, Gene Barker. They married October 10, 2003. Gene passed away on August 1, 2013 after a short illness while living at Mountain Glen Retirement Community. Louise lived out her remaining days at Mountain Glen Assisted Living in Mount Vernon from May 2013 until her death. She had made a few friends while she was able to eat in the dining room.
