Lucas Cortez Alaniz Jr.

Jun 27, 1941 — Aug 2, 2026

Mount Vernon

With heavy hearts and unwavering faith, we announce the passing of Lucas Alaniz Jr., who peacefully entered into the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 2, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his devoted wife, Juanita Z Alaniz, and his loving family.

Lucas was a man of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. He lived a life marked by kindness, hard work, humility, and compassion. He found great joy in spending time with those he loved most, and his steady presence, wisdom, and gentle spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

One of Lucas's greatest joys was listening to accordion music. The familiar melodies brought him comfort, happiness, and many cherished memories. Whether relaxing at home or surrounded by family, the sound of the accordion always brought a smile to his face and reflected his appreciation for life's simple blessings.

Above all, Lucas was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest pride was his family. He was blessed with eight children whom he loved deeply.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Juanita Alaniz; his children: Santiago Alaniz, Rey Alaniz, Adela Alaniz, Clara Avalos Alaniz, Yolanda Santiago, and Sylvia Alaniz. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Paul Alaniz and his beloved daughter, Fidencia M. Alaniz, who have also gone to be with the Lord.

He is also survived by his sons-in-law, Prisciliano Avalos and Lucas Santiago, as well as his former sons-in-law, Joe Colunga and Juan Sierra, who remained valued members of the family. Also, Daughters in law Aurelia Alaniz and Norma Linda Niño

He is also lovingly survived by his 23 cherished grandchildren and their spouses: Marivel (Manuel Castillo), Bianca ( Michael Alvarez) Jennifer (Homero Hernandez), Sergio (Jayde Colunga), Israel (Sharon Alaniz), Priscilla (Carlos Alcaraz), Maria (Jake Hausinger), Alex (Charly Santiago), Rigo (Kimberly Santiago) Selena (Chris Palacios), Kristal (Juan Quintero), and Daniela (Joseph Cruz), Josh (Nyla Perez), along with his other beloved grandchildren and 15 treasured great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy throughout his life. His love, wisdom, and faith will continue to live on through each generation of his family.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and recognition to Eduardo Santiago, a very special and dear friend of the family. Eduardo faithfully spent countless hours with Lucas—sitting with him, talking with him, shaving him, and cutting his hair with great kindness, compassion, and love. His friendship, care, and unwavering support brought comfort to Lucas and meant more to the family than words can express. He will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Although our hearts are filled with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Lucas is no longer suffering and has found eternal peace in the loving arms of Jesus Christ. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and he will be deeply missed every day.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23

Forever in our hearts, always in God's care. Hoy, Mañana y Siempre.🙏
