LUELLA ARLENE EVERETT February 28, 1915 – October 30, 2009 As she lived her life, Luella Everett died with quiet dignity and in peace at the age of 94. She was born in Avon, Washington, the seventh of eight children, to Charles Stewart and Mary Alice (Williamson) Stewart. Luella graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1932 and married Rex Everett in 1940. They then moved from Skagit County to the small logging community of Sappho on the Olympic Peninsula, where they raised sons Bob and Tom and daughter Jean. After his retirement in 1973, Rex and Luella returned "home" to the Skagit Valley, settling in Burlington, where he passed away in 1990. Luella spent her final two years at Mountain Glen Retirement Community in Mount Vernon and Aegis Assisted Living in Lynnwood, enjoying the company of family and friends. Luella's survivors include her son Tom Everett of Olympia, daughter Jean Savory and son-in-law Shaun Savory of Edmonds, sisters-in-law Betty Stewart and Arline Watson of Mount Vernon, and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband Rex, son Bob, babies Steven and Phyllis, sisters Marguerite Stewart and Theresa Tarry, and brothers William Stewart, Charles Stewart, Jack Stewart, Joe Stewart, and Robert Stewart. Viewing will be held on Friday, November 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday, November 7, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E. College Way, in Mount Vernon, followed by funeral services and burial at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 7.
