Lyle Richard Poolman passed away on January 23, 2008 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, with his wife and family by his side. He was born to Evelyn and Kenneth Poolman on April 21, 1944 in Everett and raised in Granite Falls, WA. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1962. Lyle attended Everett Community College and served in the Coast Guard Reserves before graduating from Western Washington University in 1969 with a degree in Political Science. He married Andrea Dygert in 1967. The couple made their first homes in Bellingham and Arlington before moving to Mount Vernon in 1972. Lyle worked for a brief time at Bellingham National Bank. He began his long career in Juvenile and Adult Corrections in 1969 at Indian Ridge Youth Camp in Arlington WA. He served as Associate Superintendent at the Washington State Reformatory in Monroe from 1985 to 1994 and was Juvenile Court Administrator for Skagit County for five years prior to his retirement in 1999. Lyle is survived by his wife, Andrea, and by his children Jacob Poolman, Sarah Hinman and son-in-law Tim Hinman. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Sam and Josie Hinman, by his brother Kenneth Poolman of Bremerton, and by his grandmother, Mollie Waltz of Mount Vernon. His parents preceded him in death. Lyle was an active member of Rotary International and valued the opportunity for fellowship and service to community that it provided. He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan. His "place of peace" was on the river with his fishing pole in hand. He was known for his unique sense of humor. He loved and was loved by many and will be greatly missed. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 1:30 pm at Hillcrest Park Lodge 1917 South 13th, Mount Vernon Washington.
