Lynda Murphy O'Brien, born June 3, 1944, peacefully entered into eternal rest June 12, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family at their Edmonds, WA home. Lynda was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Lynda will be especially remembered for her kind, caring and soft-spoken manner and for her unlimited devotion to family and friends. She loved family gatherings and celebrated each and every holiday, birthday and special occasion.

Lynda was a devoted Campfire Girls leader for many years. Lynda's warmth, enthusiasm and encouragement left life-long impressions and wonderful memories for members of her group.

Lynda was an accomplished artisan in several arenas. In the kitchen her artisanal culinary skills and recipes are legendary. In the garden, she had an unmistakable artistic vent. Her vegetable and flower-growing skills shone brightly.

Her love of Mother Nature extended to her family, and they enjoyed many camping and hiking outings from the Olympic Peninsula to fishing expeditions and adventures at their log cabin on Clear Lake to overnights in the San Juan Islands.

In Lynda's quilting circle of valued friends, she was admired as an avid and talented quilter. Lynda was honored to be asked to design a quilt block for the inaugural quilt square of the Skagit County Barn Quilts Trail. The quilt square, "Wind and Wings," is presently affixed to the historic Bessner family barn on Fir Island.

Lynda was predeceased by her mother and father, Zella and Howard Earl Murphy, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Murphy. Lynda is survived by her husband, Jay Patrick O'Brien; three children: Michael O'Brien (Tallie) and their two sons, Bradley and Brady, Old Town, ID; Colleen O'Brien-Miller (Shaun), Fir Island, WA; Kathleen O'Brien-Grafe (Joel), Riverside, WA; sister-in-law, Colleen O'Brien Nunn (Sam), Atlanta, GA; Two brothers, Ray Murphy (Jacquie Drake), Boise, ID and Wes Murphy (Lynette), Star, ID.

The burial will be held at a private gravesite interment in July at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with arrangements by Hawthorne/Hulbush Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, WA.
