Obituary

Margaret Celia Bishop Johnson 89 went to be with the Lord, and the love of her life our father Oscar on Sunday February 17th at Mt. Glenn Retirement. She was the seventh of eight children. She was born on February 13th 1924 to James W. Bishop and Minnie Mae Williamson Bishop in Union South Carolina. Margaret was a very special mother and grandmother with a loving heart and many wise words. Her family was her greatest gift, and even though all her siblings lived in different states they stayed close in their love for each other. At the age of 9 along with her mother, and siblings, they made their way across the United States in a Model T Ford towing a trailer behind with all their belongings to Gooding Idaho where she had a wonderful life growing up. She worked as a telephone operator in her younger years, and it was in 1944 that she met Oscar C. Johnson and fell in love. They lived in Kansas where Oscar was stationed then lived in Seattle, Conway, Whidbey Island, Fir Island and finally Lake McMurray where they built their beloved home which she treasured and care for with all her loving heart. Margaret was very involved with her children in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls as well as many school functions. Margaret was a wonderful stay at home mom. She was always there when we got home from school with either fresh baked cookies or cake and a good cold glass of milk. She was also a wonderful seamstress, making Barbie and doll clothes repairing and patching our clothes by her caring hands, as well as making matching dress for her and her daughter. Margaret was a member of the McMurray Fire Department Ladies Aux. She was also involved on a committee to help restore the McMurray Cemetery. She belonged to a quilt group "Quilters by the River" for many years along with her best friend Elva. Margaret made many beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren for which we will treasure and enjoy forever. She loved to travel and go camping. She and dad made many camping trips with their best friends. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers Margaret is survived by her sons Don (Elaine) Johnson of McMurray, Carl (Debbie) Johnson of Fir Island, daughter Marilyn (Bill) Olson of McMurray.
